A wide net for searching new physics

Research fellow Thea Klaeboe Aarrestad was awarded the Young Experimental Physicist Prize from the European Physical Society for her outstanding contributions to experimental particle physics.

Congratulations to Dr Thea Klaeboe Aarrestad on being awarded this prestigious prize from the High Energy and Particle Physics Division of the European Physical Society. Aarrestad is SNSF Ambizione Fellow in Professor Günther Dissertori's group in the Department of Physics.

Key to Aarrestad's work is the integration of modern machine learning techniques into particle physics, especially for real-time data processing and event selection in experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Aarrestad was also praised for her leadership in building open-source tools and in her efforts towards community building at CERN and beyond.
